"Alpine Wood, Handmade with Care."
Itadakimasu 頂きます is a Saku created in 2020 by architect and designer Jessica Montet. This unique piece embodies a conscious and respectful approach to nature and craftsmanship. Made from solid wood from the Swiss Alps, the table highlights trunks originally destined to be cut for heating or other uses. These woods, carefully selected from forest sorting, find a second life here. Entirely natural and raw, the wood undergoes minimal surface treatment, ensuring a high-quality tabletop while preserving its authenticity. Since it is a living material, the wood evolves over time: its color changes, cracks may appear, reflecting its organic and vibrant character. This ongoing transformation makes Itadakimasu a living object, a work that mirrors the very essence of nature and life. At Saku, we believe in the power of raw materials and their benefits. These natural elements bring a calming energy and healing potential to our interiors. Thus, Itadakimasu is not just a table, but a Saku, a handcrafted creation made with love. The name Itadakimasu is inspired by the Japanese expression meaning "I receive." This humble and spiritual phrase is used to thank everyone and everything involved in a meal – from the cook to the farmers, and to nature itself. More than just a word, it reflects a philosophy of gratitude and mindfulness. Itadakimasu is a table, a Saku, and a philosophy of life that invites us to reconnect with what truly matters.
